Reservoir and Beyond

The one thing I love about painting with wax (encaustics) is that not only does it allow my imagination to flow but also that of the  viewer.

Having completed this painting recently I decided to list it on Artfire.com where I have several other paintings for sale.

‘Reservoir and Beyond’ allows you, the viewer, to rest and feast your eyes upon a landscape that can be found in almost any corner of the world.  It could be Afganistan, it could be in the Lake District of England – just let your imagination realise!

As you stand high up on the rocks you can look down on a stream that is curling its way down into a reservoir.  Beyond is a landscape which appears lunar like in quality.  It is obvious the winds gather in this remote spot sweeping the clouds across the sky.  What else can you see?

That is amazing!! I love it - it's so relaxing, I just need a lounge chair and a drink with the painting in front of me and I'd be happy!!
Have a great weekend.

That's a wonderful painting. How did you get the reflection at the bottom? Was it done when you photographed it or some kind of online application? What ever it is I think it really gives the piece an extra punch.

I was wondering why the lower, about 1/6 of the image, is darker, like looking out a window? I have to go and see this in your shop...

I noticed the foreground and red plants... probably because my eyes are tired from looking at my screen!

Hi, thanks so much for your comments!!

I often start my posts in Microsoft Live Writer (which you can download for free). One of the details you can play around with is that to do with the pictures. An option called 'reflection' causes the effect I used for this painting. It was just for a bit of fun but I must admit it can enhance a picture quite well.
